reunioning...

what a weekend!  we spent a quick 48 hours in california, flying down friday evening and back last night.  my mom watched maddie and my sister, just minutes away, watched gracie and lucy.  of the 3 of them, lucy was by far the hardest- we owe my sister chelsea big time!  we dropped our bags off at my parents and headed out for a late dinner with whitney and ryan.  we spent dinner laughing and talking and finished the night with froyo friday.  we stayed out later than we thought we would- i can't even remember getting into bed!  matthew had a bit of studying to do on saturday, so whitney and i spent the morning together and met matthew, ryan, my dad and my sweetest oliver for lunch.  i was so excited to have a little bit of time with oliver without a jealous maddie demanding that i put him down.  we came home and i fell asleep reading a book...and slept for nearly 3 hours.  it felt amazing!  i scrambled to get ready for the reunion- one of these days i'm going to master being on time!  the reunion was over at 10, but we managed to stay out until nearly 2.

it was the first time matthew met most of my friends from high school- i am so glad he was able to come!  it was one of those odd situations, where everyone has changed so much, but a lot has remained the same.  friendships were rekindled in moments and stories started pouring out.  matthew heard stories that were retold more as legends.  we got louder and more animated as the night went on and moments were remembered.  some stories were told differently than i remembered (i don't remember being quite the instigator of some of our most favorite memories) but they were a blast to relive.  our poor cheer coach spent two years trying to tame our chaos.  she wasn't fully successful, but did find that it helped if she slept right outside mine and stephanie's (one of the best accomplices) dorm room in a lawn chair every night.  we remembered sneaking out during slumber parties to go toilet papering, our favorite hangouts and all the other shenanigans that i'm not sure i could every justify in writing.  i'm grateful for the memories that i was able to make and friendships that have been able to withstand years apart.  any of the drama of high school and the ups and downs and all of that seemed to pail in comparison to the fun we had.  and i'm sure there was some studying in there somewhere!

|| my mom's flight landed just as we were getting through security.  we got to chat for a few minutes as we passed before getting on the same plane she had just gotten off of.  i was so happy she was here for the weekend! ||

|| i'm just not sure if there is anything as cute as oliver! ||

|| gracie stayed with my sister chelsea to play with her best buddy brynlee.  chelsea is great with hair, so whenever gracie goes to her house she either get s a haircut or has her hair done fancy- she thinks aunt chels is amazing!! i will be cursing chelsea's name every morning as i attempt to recreate gracie's darling curly hair. ||

|| maddie stayed with her grammie- and if you can't tell from these pictures, she was quite happy about it!  she has chosen "grammie gram" as her favorite person in the whole world.  she spent the weekend right by her side. ||

|| trading pictures back and forth with gracie.  we loved the one of her blowing us kisses! ||

|| flying down and flying home.  it was such a quick weekend! ||

|| grammie gram wears maddie out! ||

|| aunt chels set up a tea party for little girls in the neighborhood, complete with homemade cakes and crafts.  gracie was in fairy heaven! ||

  2. I'm in love with your classic style! This outfit is perfection, I'm dying over those pumps (not the price)! I also love your hair color. Can I ask, who does it? I can't tell from the pictures, do you have bangs?

    1. Steffanie,
Thanks so much! Lindsay Catano at Amara Salon in Orem does my hair- I can't recommend her enough! I have loved my color every time she has done it. My bangs are grown out right now, but they're still considerably shorter than my shortest layer. I go back and forth about cutting bangs again, I've almost always had them and miss them!

      Thanks for reading:)
