this week has been a little hectic. i've managed to get almost all of our house picked up and cleaned, but i've struggled finding a way to clean my bathroom and closet. it seems like those are always the last places i get to, and the places that often take the most time (i tend to be a little ocd). while i'm busy in my closet is usually when little girls manage to find markers or paint or a counter top to climb onto. and while they're not always finding mischief, it doesn't matter because i'm in my closet stressing that they're finding it. i was so excited to see sweet little peanut's post about diy bathtub paint with shaving cream…i found my way to clean my bathroom and closet while keeping a close eye on the girls!
the set up was a piece of cake…gracie used all her preschool knowledge of mixing colors and helped mix in the food coloring. maddie patiently waited for the first second she could poke her finger into the pan. they pretended they were on their way to the beach and found bathing suits and hats and sunglasses. i had to ruin their pretend time right before gracie sprayed sunscreen all over maddie.
i was not surprised to see gracie get into the painting, i was however, surprised to see how much maddie enjoyed it. she spent more time painting than gracie did, and had we not had somewhere to be, i think she would have stayed in playing for a long while. the clean up was the best part…seriously so much easier than real paint! oh, and i was worried the girls would smell like shaving cream all day…no sign of old man smell once they were out of the bath and dressed.
this is an activity i can see us doing over and over…and it doesn't hurt that the shaving cream is $1 per bottle (i think i used maybe half a bottle and we had plenty.) the girls, and matthew, were pretty impressed with it all…it's kind of nice when i'm the big hit of the day! (matthew was mostly impressed with his clean bathroom.)
**it goes without saying, but i could see the girls at ALL times while i was cleaning.
