there are few things matthew loves more than treats. those that know him well know that he consumes somewhere around 7,000 calories a day. eating is very well a hobby for him.
occasionally i jump on the good wife train and bake him something. it really isn’t as much as i should. he comes from a family of serious bakers, they are all so talented, so i figured a fool proof recipe from his sister, breanna, would be perfect. she has a recipe blog that is incredible and never steers us wrong.
i used her basic blueberry muffin recipe, it was easy and they tasted amazing. i loved that i was making something from scratch and that it used fresh blueberries...and best of all, it was so easy i didn’t have to google any baking terminology. seeing as we’re in the mood for valentine’s day, i experimented with making heart shaped muffins...because everything tastes better in the shape of a heart, right? it took a couple tries and a little patience. i took a heart shaped cookie cutter and put it around the muffin liner, shaped and creased it then slipped a marble inbetween the pan and the liner, at the top of the heart, to allow it to keep it’s heart shape while cooking. the girls thought it was pretty amazing...i’m pretty sure matthew said something about it in between inhaling 5 of them in a half hour.
next time i’m feeling particularly adventurous i may even try breanna’s browned butter blueberry muffins...but we’re starting simple:)
